Every time I go to build one I manage to be just around the time that there's a super deal from the dealers that ends up making them cheaper. Make sure you check around.

Lol yeah. I'm totally uncool :(

My old computer had 2 gigs of ram but it still had a crappy 1.8 ghz processor.
It was enough...
The one I'm using right now is a laptop on loan.

I'm planning on putting it together this time instead of getting it from a dealer.

Haha, I know what I'm gonna get now. My previous computer was a more powerfull but the motherboard decided to take everything along with it. It's a good thing I regularly back up stuff.
Anyway, it was old but I had a good run with it. This year, I get to change rigs! I've been saving up for this and a Cintiq.

DUUUUUUDDEE????? you've only got 1gig of RAM!??!?!

You need at least 4 gig of RAM to be cool. I have myself a DELL XPS laptop...15.4" monitor...4gig ram etc...and ya want at least a 2.4 dual core processor.

dell has just come out with some sexy looking studio xps laptops actually. but yeah...i just prefer the fexibility a laptop offers. you might wanna go for a desktop for a lower price.

OH GOD WHAT IS THAT IT IS TRYING TO LICK ME.

I don't know about hardware though. I'm running a 2.4ghz quad with a couple gigs of ram and a good gpu, which I managed to get pretty cheap, but I generally don't get top of the line because it always gets replaced so fast that the price isn't worth it. It works quite well for me, but considering that these days the extent of my artwork on computer is just 500x500 images in paint I might not be the best reference for the types of stuff you do.
